[12:53] amette_ Hi RadoS, if you can log in to mysql and run the command "SHOW CREATE TABLE tiki_preferences;", it will show you how the table was created and part of the output will be something like "ENGINE=MyISAM" or whichever one you used initially. [12:55] amette_ left #tikiwiki [12:55] amette_ joined #tikiwiki [12:59] amette_ left #tikiwiki [12:59] amette_ joined #tikiwiki [13:01] RadoS D'uh, I'm good, chose innoDB for both installations... so ... is innoDB "always" better choice? When would/ should I use myISAM? [13:05] amette_ left #tikiwiki [13:05] amette_ joined #tikiwiki [13:07] amette_ MyISAM can be faster on low-end machines like my old laptop, I used to use for developing. Nowadays I think InnoDB is the go-to choice, yes. A couple of years ago it couldn't do everything that MyISAM did, but that's history afaik. Haven't read up on them recently, but I think that there's no good reason any more to go with MyISAM. [13:08] amette_ Having said that... I still totally automatically select MyISAM each and every time I install a Tiki... hmmmm.... need to rethink that automatism. [13:33] RadoS less choice -> less chances to make errors. [13:34] RadoS Or if necessary to keep it for special corner cases, make it prominent default and offer "advanced" for the pros? [13:35] RadoS keep myISAM for corner cases -> make innoDB default with option for myISAM ("if you really know what you do"). [13:50] juststrollingin RadoS The default engine when installing(atleast 17) is MyISAM [13:56] fabricius joined #tikiwiki [13:57] fabricius polom [14:00] juststrollingin fabricius hello what's up?
