I found the answer
some developer with little respect for backwards compatibility decided it would be a good idea to introduce a "View edit icons" feature that hides the icons by default after an upgrade.
now if only i could find a way to toggle the default behaviour to "on"

chibaguySometimes the fixedwidth rules need to be added, if the theme does something different (similar to fivealive having always 100% wide header and footer, etc.).

***Caarrie|sleeping is now known as Caarrie|away [10:39]
jonnybthanks - good page! [10:40]
chibaguyYes, I did Ohia. If your theme option is just colors, though, maybe just those things need to be specified (backgrounds, color, borders, etc.) not positioning.
Since some of the site header area div names changed from 6 to 7, those probably need to updated in themes, so styling (color, etc.) gets applied correctly again.
chibaguy hopes not much else in css has changed from 6 to 7, been so focussed on the modules, other css changes may not have been noticed.

Jiggling the top modules looked like it was going to fix the spacing problem, but the change didn't take.
[16:25]
jonnybno, it goes in local.php
it looks like the logo is hard coded to have the hight of the tiki logo sadly
you could add this to your custom css:

[16:28]
mhellerYes, $api_tiki='adodb'; [16:30]
jonnybit should really be a parameter of the logo module...

jonnybreally? would have thought less overhead
ok, didn't know that (i did, both of these are mine sadly)
[16:38]
lphuberdeauthe reason the mysql extension does not accept multiple queries is that it prevents escalation of security flaws [16:39]
jonnybbut only in 7.x (hopefully) [16:39]
lphuberdeaumysqli has the same behavior unless you use the function that explicitly allows for multiple, but as a retarded library, adodb uses it all the time [16:39]

hmm, ok - i need to fix those two bits then (dull)
[16:46]
lphuberdeaumheller, those two flags seems like a bad idea
mheller, don't you use your distribution's PHP?
[16:59]
mhellerThat's how my ISP set it up. I can change it, but I'll have to ask them about it first. [17:09]
lphuberdeaufileinfo is not used by tiki, but it might be used in the future (because it's great) [17:11]
mhellerAs long as I'm on here bringing up issues, I have one more. If I try to do a full-text MySQL search with certain terms ("code library" is one example) I get :
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 53215256 bytes) in /home/alphafiv/public_html/lib/tikilib.php on line 4358
I can increase the allowed memory as much as I want, and it will always be exceeded. It looks like an infinite loop. It doesn't matter whether it's an advanced search or not.
[17:18]
lphuberdeauwhich version? [17:26]
mhellerMy ISP's self-described reason for turning off pdo and fileinfo: "paranoia, mostly"
7.x head, if that's what your asking.
[17:26]

mhellerDisabling parse result fixed the fatal error, thanks! [17:28]
lphuberdeauyou probably had a few results in there that were expensive to process [17:29]
mhellerI can't successfully rebuild the Lucene index -- it runs out of time. I have over 5000 wiki pages on my site. I'm not sure what unified search would buy me -- I only use the wiki. [17:32]
lphuberdeauyou will need to index it from a cron job
do you use categories? do you have various rights on pages?
the index compiles in the permissions and provides accurate pagination even when filtering results (and it does it fast)

chealerhi jonnyb. does look like the same problem (I didn't get when it happens) [17:39]
lphuberdeaumheller, it also compiles in most of those transversal features allowing to apply filters without killing your server [17:41]

chahnGood. These days I try to change the theme to what I like but it was very hard with Dreamweaver. Today I realized that Dreamweaver doesn't work with Smarty (as far as I know). Anyway it was another step to learn. Now I have three new editors which I never seen but I will try. jonnyb, thanks again. Have a nice day all! [19:55]
