<marclaporte> Hi, I received the copy of your mail on 01/07/2012, did you answers any longer mail since this time ? | [0:52] |
marclaporte | not yet | [0:56] |
Trebly | <marclaporte> Ok I am waiting, are you partially agreeing, obviously "partially", in what I say and about my aims, or I am full mis-oriented. Can I go-on usefully in the way I have defined ?
<marclaporte> Second question : I am actually locked in a new instalation of 8.3 because I could not, yill know, find back the way I found to login as admin on a site previously used with 8.1. After copying the data base, upgrading by installer, the login of admin failed. I reset it to default and clear cokies and temps sessions and caches, but I still always get an error. Is it somewhere something about such a problem. Previously with 8.1 I discover that after install (on 7.2 data), The previous PhpSession was not cleared, then many information loaded where wrong and the admin had error when login. | [1:2] |

hello….how is everyone? been having an unsuccessful time trying to upgrade my 6.6 tiki site to 8.3 and, in addition, running into issues with hosting and resource isues i have a site with a lot of structures and categories…and was wondering if there is something i need to do to allow for an upgrade | [3:20] |
marclaporte | It's supposed to work | [3:57] |
jcyrisse | yeah…but it isn't:(
been quite frustrating | [3:57] |
marclaporte | Do you have visible error messages?
you could try pre 8.4 | [3:58] |
jcyrisse | i have to rerun with error messages set to on…but what happens is I just see the left menu
or just a blank screen k….can try that | [3:58] |
marclaporte | which search engine are you using? | [4:0] |
jcyrisse | not sure I know…where would I look? | [4:1] |
marclaporte | tiki-admin.php?page=search | [4:2] |
jcyrisse | sec
mysql full text and tiki indexed | [4:3] |
marclaporte | use MySql only | [4:5] |
jcyrisse | should i try just using full text?
lol...k and no parse? | [4:5] |
marclaporte | good idea | [4:6] |
jcyrisse | k
do you think if i change that in the database tables for the upgraded database that might help? or be worth a try? if so, which database table is that in? | [4:6] |
marclaporte | you can't do via admin panel? | [4:11] |
jcyrisse | nope | [4:11] |
marclaporte | tiki_preferences
yes, worth a try | [4:12] |
jcyrisse | k…also, on my test host, i only have ability to set 32M as my max.
k..let me try it what would the field name be? | [4:13] |
marclaporte | delete the feature_search line | [4:24] |
jcyrisse | delete it or just set to "n"? | [4:24] |
marclaporte | delete it | [4:24] |
jcyrisse | k | [4:25] |
marclaporte | wait
no, set it to n because y is the default, and if it's not there, it reverts to the default | [4:25] |
jcyrisse | k | [4:25] |
marclaporte | ah, but search is maybe not on by default...
You may need to clear your Tiki cache for it to take effect also, activate your error messages | [4:27] |
jcyrisse | k…how do i do that, if i can't get to the admin?
k so, where do I set that error messages? in the database table? | [4:28] |
marclaporte | https://doc.tiki.org/Troubleshooting#Locked_out_of_Tiki | [4:32] |
jcyrisse | perfect…ty
during the upgrade shouldn't the version number of the tiki changed from 6.6 to 8.3? well…no success same thing and no error message are even showing | [4:33] |
marclaporte | Is your PHP configured to show error messages? | [4:52] |
jcyrisse | i set that as you suggested
is there a way to clear the cache from the database? | [4:52] |
marclaporte | not to my knowledge
Tiki can't override PHP error messages if PHP doesn't let it | [4:53] |
jcyrisse | are their any modules that i might have that are no longer used? | [4:55] |
marclaporte | trying to guess in the dark is a waste of time
that is what error messages are for The first thing you need to do is confirm that error messages for PHP are activated for your host | [4:56] |
jcyrisse | yes….as I got some on another site | [4:57] |
marclaporte | sometimes, they are displayed, sometimes, they are logged | [4:57] |
jcyrisse | also, shouldn't the database show version 8.3 and not 6.6? | [4:57] |
marclaporte | where do you see that? | [4:58] |
jcyrisse | in the preferences?
says tiki release number 6.6 | [4:58] |
marclaporte | Can you describe what you did to upgrade your Tiki?
clean install or copy files over? | [4:58] |
jcyrisse | same as I have always done….yup…clean install | [4:59] |
marclaporte | did you use tiki-install.php via the web or you went via the shell scripts? | [4:59] |
jcyrisse | via web | [4:59] |
marclaporte | so you had 6 or 7 steps for tiki-install.php?
are you able to go to tiki-install.php now? | [5:0] |
jcyrisse | i didn't count :)
yes | [5:0] |
marclaporte | hehe
ok, go to tiki-install.php and go through the steps and activate the error messages via there (in step 3 i think) | [5:0] |
jcyrisse | k
report all execpt strict? or report all php errors? | [5:1] |
marclaporte | all, and to everyone | [5:3] |
jcyrisse | k | [5:3] |
marclaporte | Do you know how to make a phpinfo file? | [5:4] |
jcyrisse | no | [5:4] |
marclaporte | create a file called jcishuntingfortheproblem.php in the www
The content should be <?php phpinfo(); then, visit that file with your browser | [5:5] |
jcyrisse | k…just getting a blank page now | [5:6] |
marclaporte | we are looking to check value of display_errors for your PHP
blank page for Tiki or for that new file? The content should be <?php phpinfo(); right? | [5:7] |
jcyrisse | oops forgot the ;
for tiki | [5:8] |
marclaporte | ok, focus on the new file for now | [5:8] |
jcyrisse | k…got it…..http://janasullinger.com/jcishuntingfortheproblem.php | [5:9] |
marclaporte | display_errors On
This is good But error_reporting has no value not good (I think) | [5:10] |
jcyrisse | when i do just a clean install on an empty database, everything works fine | [5:13] |
marclaporte | no way to get server to increase memory_limit to 64?
Can you try the upgrade on another server? | [5:14] |
jcyrisse | no…appears not…i have tried the php.ini file on my server,
i did…have tried it on two different servers | [5:14] |
marclaporte | did you ask the support? | [5:15] |
jcyrisse | one with 128M and the other with the 32
yeah…they said try a dedicated server. !!!! | [5:15] |
marclaporte | hehe
so you have same problem both with 32 and 128? | [5:15] |
jcyrisse | yup
same exact thing does a php5.ini file do anything different? | [5:16] |
marclaporte | depends on your hot
hot -> host | [5:16] |
jcyrisse | i also tried modifying the htaccess file
so, maybe try modifying that? and placing in the folder where tiki is? | [5:16] |
marclaporte | but to see if it worked, check http://janasullinger.com/jcishuntingfortheproblem.php | [5:17] |
jcyrisse | k
nope…neither worked trying one more thing what about the htaccess files? any rewrite rule to consider? | [5:18] |
marclaporte | deactivate the htaccess (to rule that out)
http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.error-reporting.php#65049 <- You could try this. Create a new file with this content | [5:24] |

xavi also misses it the theory is that codemirror provides the same functionality (in theory, but it is false) so search for "codemirror", or "syntax highlighting" in your admin panel, and enable it | [11:8] |

"false" = geshi and codemirror provide similar functionality, but some things are missing in codemirror, and some things are new a nicely included in codemirror compared to geshi Jyhem ? | [11:10] | |

xavi | Jyhem_laptop and changi: about geshi, well, our documentation was not that bad; it was based ont he stable version of geshi in sf.net, etc
and codemirror does not support all languages, nor all features included in geshi to me, geshi support could have been maintained in Tiki 8+ ("make it optional", as it was), provided that it was known that some functionality was not being replaced by codemirror personal opinion, of course one tiny example: when showing R syntax inside PluginCode, most functions from the R syntax were hyperlinked to the available online resources (help pages) for each of those functions, etc. | [12:39] |

This allows people who download the source to have all the docs in one download. rwik | hello! Is anyone familiar with working with tiki-wiki directory permissions on a linux server? we host our wiki through a hosting service, and they have asked us to clear up o+w permissions. The tiki-8.2/temp/unified-index folder who's content has o
* o+w files is there a way to set this differently? there is a readme that says to run setup.sh to change the temp dir's perms, but will this also change the unified-index perms? sorry for that mess of communication, I did not mean to send that first message when I did. To make that clearer, the only folder which has o+w permissions in it, is the tiki-8.2/temp/unified index | [18:15] |

well, it sounds like tikiwiki defaults to file creation permissions that your hosting provider doesn't like... not sure what you can do about that. let's see... i've been playing with the tikiwiki admin interface a little bit, but I wouldn't think it has controls for you to change what the temp file default file creation permissions are. you could run a cronjob to remove those permission like once an hour, that might satisfy your hosting provider. to be honest with you, i use bluehost.com, which has a really nice set of cpanel tools, above and beyond what i've seen on other hosting providers. they've written a custom kernel that gives every account it's own virtual linux instance, and throttle by CPU so that nobody on one box can load that server to where everybody else gets choked out. they also have a cpanel app they call "SimpleScripts" that installs packages like tikiwi bluehost has a link where you can play with their setup and see it for yourself at http://www.bluehost.com/media/shared/info/index/_bh/demo_login.gif | [18:55] |
rwik | I thought of that, but I'm not sure. I'm shooting them an email right now, and we'll see what they say. They are friendly enough, so we should be able to work it out. I just finished some testing which seems to indicate that it does not need the o+w, and I think they can globally disable that on their end (or the email I received from the suggested that). We can try it on a test environment.
Thanks for the info, but the wiki is hosted at a university, so its all managed locally, and we have to run through IT | [19:1] |
